Dr. Dorothy Rich,
creator of MegaSkills
1932-2009
MegaSkills is a character building
program to actively develop the
habits, behaviors and attitudes
children need in order to succeed
in school and beyond. Dorothy
Rich, Ed.D (1932-2009), was an
acclaimed educator and expert in
how families can help children
succeed in school and in life. Dr.
Rich authored MegaSkills, now in
its fifth edition, which has been
used by more than four thousand
schools and thousands of families
across the United States and
abroad. She founded the
nonprofit Home and School
Institute, based in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Rich's work has received the
"A+ for Breaking the Mold Award" from the U.S. Department of Education, as well as recognition from the MacArthur Foundation and other distinguished organizations. MegaSkills has been researched, tested and found to be effective in raising student achievement, decreasing discipline problems, increasing time spent on
homework, and decreasing time
spent watching TV. Dorothy Rich
and her work have been featured
in the Washington Post, the New
York Times, The Los Angeles
Times, Good Morning America,
The Today Show, Education Week, and Reader's Digest.
