Parent-Teacher Partnership Training - Intensive one-day training for school administrators, teachers, staff, and parent leaders.
Training includes:
Strategies and how-to's for developing annual parent involvement plans, conducting parent meetings, and coordinating with other parent involvement programs
Step- by- step procedures for developing school/family compacts and model compacts that are workable and can be adhered to by all
Development of deeper understanding among teachers and school staff of the importance of parent involvement
Techniques and tips for establishing and maintaining positive two-way communication between the school and the home
Strategies for breaking down the barriers to parent involvement
Leadership development for parent representatives
Promotion of closer, more positive relationships between school staff and parents
Leader Training for MegaSkills Parent Involvement - Intensive one-day training of school staff and parent leaders to give a series of parent workshops to help parents become more involved in their children's education. Program includes:
Focus on what parents can do in the home to develop and reinforce the skills and attitudes that students need for school success
Activities and materials for parents that develop family literacy and other academic skills
Parenting behavior how-to's that support academic achievement, such as monitoring homework completion, TV watching, and positive use of time outside the school
Tested and proven techniques and materials for working with economically disadvantaged, racial/ethnic minority, and limited English proficient families
Parent materials translated into Spanish, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Lao and Haitian Creole
Strategies that address barriers to parent involvement and build sustained parent participation
Parent-to-parent training to develop parent leaders who can in turn involve other parents
A two-day mentor training version of the Leader Training for Parent Involvement Program is also available for school districts that want to introduce the program systematically throughout a number of schools. The Mentor Training uses a train-the-trainers approach in which key staff are trained in how to train and mentor other parent workshop leaders.
