MegaSkills Leader Training Program for Parent Workshops
MegaSkills Leader Training provides comprehensive programs to train teachers, administrators, community leaders, and parents to conduct a series of parent involvement workshops in their community. The workshops are designed for families to help their children succeed in school and beyond. Bilingual Spanish materials are available.

MegaSkills Essentials for the Classroom
MegaSkills Essentials for the Classroom provides training in the use of the full MegaSkills classroom curriculum, grades K-8. It introduces students to a new approach designed: to develop strong study skills; to extend children's academic interests; to involve families in MegaSkills activities at home to complement the work of the school; to build student self-discipline, and to prevent at- risk behaviors in children.

MegaSkills Bond
MegaSkills Bond training translates national, state, and local education goals and requirements into practical action for educators and families working together. The training focuses on how-to's for: building a school sense of common purpose; working with diversity; developing plans, compacts, and policies; strengthening communication, problem solving, and coordinating resources including school/family/community business partnerships.

MegaSkills School Program
MegaSkills Schools integrate all of the MegaSkills programs together to develop a school-wide environment for increasing academic achievement and building school performance. Schools identify specific goals such as reduced discipline incidents, lower absenteeism and tardiness, increased student performance, and parent involvement. Becoming a MegaSkills School is a continuing school-wide process, with increasing levels of accomplishment.

MegaSkills Training Curricula
In all MegaSkills Programs, participants receive a complete program to use immediately. All trainings include MegaSkills modules, complete directions and strategies for conducting and managing the program, and ongoing technical assistance from HSI's MegaSkills Education Center.
Programs provide:
• Full curriculum presentation, workshops, and evaluation
• Tested teaching methods and activities for different grade levels, discussions and demonstrations
These are comprehensive programs with documented impact lasting years beyond the original training to reach an ever-widening circle of families and students.

National Scope of Training
MegaSkills is recognized as the major training program focusing on the educational role of the family. Conducted in 48 states, MegaSkills Workshops are now used in over 3,000 schools and have reached over 100,000 families and their children. Families served by the MegaSkills programs include African-American, Asian, Hispanic, Lao, and Native American. MegaSkills Programs are offered in Spanish, Vietnamese, and in some California sites in Chinese and Armenian.
The work of HSI, highlighted in videos by Agency for Instructional Technology and Video Journal, has been featured in the Washington Post, New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, Reader's Digest, NBC Today, Good Morning America and numerous professional education publications. With over 20 years of experience, HSI provides coordinated, tested programs for school and community to ensure educational progress.

Program Effectiveness
See New Evaluation on MegaSkills Impact
Memphis State University researchers, evaluating the impact of the MegaSkills Workshop Program, reported: increased time of parents with children, decreased TV watching by participating children and increased time spent on homework. Austin, Texas, school district research indicates that MegaSkills students showed higher scores in national and statewide achievement tests and had fewer discipline problems in school. The University of Louisville, evaluating the first MegaSkills School, Maupin Elementary, in Louisville, KY, reported that more than 75% of the teachers using the program found children working more cooperatively, concentrating and paying more attention, having fewer discipline problems, and showing greater responsibility in completing assignments. The US Department of Education awarded the MegaSkills Program an A+ for Breaking the Mold Award.
